Mr. Tim Lowie
Administrator
Mr. Timothy Lowie has been a principal in the Union Endicott School District from 1999 to 2020. He then taught first and second Grades at Valley Heights Christian Academy, and is now happily retired and volunteering his time at Valley Heights and in Union Endicott.
Mr. Lowie is married to Mrs. Lowie, our teacher in grades three through six. Their three children - Kyra, Zane, and Aidan - are all graduates of VHCA.
The Lowie’s spend a lot of time with their dog Jasper, and love to travel. They are anxiously awaiting the birth of their first grandchild to Zane and Kaylee, in November 2023.
Mrs. Barb Kipp
Administrative Assistant
Mrs. Kipp grew up in South New Berlin where she attended Holmesville Christian Academy. She married Brian in 1994 and they moved to PA where she worked as a study hall monitor at Calvary Christian Academy, Huntingdon PA where her husband taught. Over the years she has worked as a church secretary, a custodian at a Christian school for nine years, a grocery store manager, a MacDonald's manager and has worked at Chase Nursing Home as a CNA.. Mrs. Kipp loves being involved in her local church and has volunteered over the years in the church nursery, in children's church, and sung in the choir. Mrs Kipp has two sons who are married and one grandson. She moved back to NY after the passing of her husband in July, 2023 whom she was married to for 29 years. Mrs. Kipp enjoys cooking, gardening and decorating.
Mrs. Sharon Monro
Administrator Assistant, Elementary Music, School Christmas Play Director
Mrs. Monro grew up in the suburbs of Durban, South Africa. She graduated from Clarks Summit University with a degree in Biblical counseling. It was there that she met her husband, Mark. During college and the first few years of marriage, Mrs. Monro worked in the office management field. In 2000, her family moved back to Mark’s hometown, North Pitcher, NY where Mrs. Monro homeschooled their three boys to graduation.
Mrs Monro is active with the children’s, Awana and women’s ministries in her church and also enjoys participating in her church choir. In 2018 Mrs. Monro was elected Town Clerk, Registrar and Tax Collector for the Town of Lincklaen, where she continues to work part time. She joined VHCA in May 2020 as our school secretary.
Mrs. Christina Wilcox
Grade K4 - Grade 2 Teacher
Mrs. Wilcox is a 1987 graduate of VHCA, having attended from the start of the school in 1982. She has worked in the teaching profession for well over 20 years in numerous capacities. She was a high school special education teacher's aide for 13 years for Sherburne-Earlville School. She has taught and cared for adult special needs individuals for over 8 years of OPWDD. She homeschooled her own children in their younger years and then her grandchildren for a couple of years during COVID. Mrs. Wilcox and her husband have also sent their children to VHCA and now their grandchildren have also attended for a few years. She feels that a good conservative Godly education is important in raising future Godly citizens. Mrs. Wilcox and her husband run a growth group and are very active in their church, Faith Bible Church of Oxford.
Mrs. Elyssa VanDeLinde
Elementary Science & History, K4 - Grade 2 P.E. Teacher
Mrs. VanDeLinde grew up in Franklinville, New Jersey. She graduated from Clarks Summit University with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, she taught third and fourth grades at VHCA for five years. Mrs. VanDeLinde lives in Norwich with her husband Steve and their two sons. She is a member of Berean Bible Church and serves in their children’s ministry. Mrs. VanDeLinde is excited to return to VHCA and be a part of the elementary staff once again!
Mrs. Brenda Lowie
Grades 3, 4, 5, & 6 Teacher
Mrs. Lowie grew up in Endicott, NY. She graduated from Potsdam College with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Business Economics. She lived in Maryland for a few years and worked in the banking industry before returning to New York. She then worked at BF Goodrich Aerospace in various areas including being a Cost Accountant. The next few years were spent as a stay-at-home mom while filling in at BF Goodrich as needed. Her summers were spent working for the SYETP program in Norwich for at-risk youth.
Mrs. Lowie came on staff at VHCA four years ago as our 5th and 6th grade teacher, but has been a part of the school ministry since her children entered school. Along with teaching at VHCA, Mrs. Lowie also serves as the assistant librarian and the assistant financial secretary for Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Joan Brooks
High School Math, History, Geography & Independent Study Teacher, Bible, Yearbook Advisor
Mrs. Brooks has lived in Norwich all of her life and has attended Calvary Baptist Church from a very young age. She graduated from Norwich High School and went to Cedarville University. Joan graduated from Cedarville with a major in Mathematics, a double minor in Bible and Science and a teaching degree in Secondary Education.
Mrs. Brooks met her husband Len while teaching Junior Church together at Calvary. They have been married for 21 years with four children, Jen, Kyle, Ryan, and Zack. She has been teaching at VHCA for the last 25 years. In that time she has taught a wide variety of classes. Joan has also been the senior class advisor. She enjoys reading, swimming, doing puzzles and just spending time with her family.
Mrs. Julie Austin
High School Science, English and Remedial Teacher, Bible
Mrs. Austin grew up in Belleville, New York. She graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Biology. After finding teaching was what God had gifted her to do, she pursued and completed a Masters of Teaching degree from Potsdam University. Mrs. Austin then taught science for 5 years in a public school, during which she married Michael Austin. After the birth of their first son, Mrs. Austin began a 20 year career as a stay at home mom and homeschooled their three sons to graduation.
In 2017 Mrs. Austin began working at Valley Heights as the AIS teacher assisting students so they could be more successful in their academic achievement. In 2019 she became the science teacher at VHCA as well as providing AIS services. Currently she is teaching science and English.
Mrs. Austin is also active in the children’s, AWANA and women’s ministries at Calvary Baptist Church.
